HRH The Duke of Gloucester thanks Guild volunteers during pandemic

April 29th, 2020

On 27 April 27th our Patron, HRH The Duke of Gloucester, spoke to Guild volunteers who are running our much-loved support services, from the onsite hospital shop to the roving trolley service that visits the wards, as well as helping the triage team.

The Duke expressed his gratitude to Mandy, Jilly and Valeria and thousands others like them who continue to give up their time to support the NHS, making the hospital experience that little bit better for patients and families.

The Duke also heard how the Princess Alice garden is still open to patients, offering a calming, tranquil outside space within the hospital grounds. Social distancing measures have been introduced, to allow the garden to stay open for patients.

The Princess Alice garden is named after The Duke’s mother, who was Patron of the Guild before him.
